Pressure didn't arrive as force.

It arrived as precision.

Not everywhere.

Only where it mattered.

The first pressure point revealed itself in delay.

Not a refusal.

Not a breakdown.

Just hesitation.

A supplier confirmed delivery then followed up with clarification.

A partner agreed to terms then asked for revised guarantees.

A department signed off then requested an additional layer of review.

None of it stopped progress.

But it slowed it.

And slowing was a signal.

"They're testing the margins," Adrian said, scanning the latest updates.

"Yes," I replied. "Pressure never starts at the center."

"It probes."

"For weakness," I finished.

The second pressure point surfaced in loyalty.

Not defection.

Recalibration.

People who once spoke freely grew cautious. Opinions arrived wrapped in disclaimers. Decisions came with preemptive justification, as if preparing for scrutiny that hadn't yet arrived.

"They're hedging," Adrian observed.
