Evie opened her eyes. She looked around, wondering where she was. She thought for a while, trying to remember what was happening. Her head was hurting. She breathed in, inhaling a strong metallic smell that was enough to jog her memory. She reached for her stomach, remembering how the empress slapped her, and she fell to the ground.
"Evie, you are awake," a hoarse voice sounded beside her. She looked to Reign.
"What happened?" she asked. "Is our baby okay?" she added, her voice breaking.
"You fainted after falling to the ground, and you were passed out for two days," Reign responded, looking down.
"I did not fall to the ground; I was pushed to the ground," Evie shouted. "Why? Because it was your empress who did that, suddenly you don't want to tell me I fell to the ground instead?" she said.
"No, that is not what I mean. Please calm down. The physician advised you to avoid stress under all circumstances," Reign said.
