Reign and Arthur were in the study room of the Supreme Pavilion discussing the palace budget when they were interrupted by a commotion outside. Someone was wailing and demanding to see the emperor, and Hillary was preventing them. "Go check what the problem is," the emperor said, annoyed.
"Yes, your highness," Arthur said, standing to leave. He returned shortly, running back in. "Your highness, that was Lady Elara's maid. She says her mistress was pushed to the ground by the empress," he said, and before he finished, the emperor flashed past him. "Go get a physician," Reign said before disappearing.
Reign ran so fast that he had never run before. "Please be okay, please," he said. "God, please let them be okay," he said, praying. He didn't remember the last time he prayed, but this time he really needed a miracle.
