"What does she want again now?" Evie asked, sitting on the swing under the linden tree. "She said she had some jewellery to give you," Cathy responded.
"Does she really think that is going to tempt me to forgive her?" Evie asked. Cathy could see the excitement behind the angry front her mistress was currently feigning. "I saw the jewelry and it was really beautiful," she told her. "Really?" Evie asked, her eyes shining. "Yes, Your Highness, but I can ask her to go back if you don't want to see her. Don't worry," Cathy said, pretending to turn and leave. "Wait," Evie said, making Cathy's lip quiver, threatening a smile. "Yes, Your Highness, I guess I will see her just this once. Go invite her," she said, and Cathy broke into a full smile. "Okay," she said, rushing in.
