"Your Highness, you are pregnant. Congratulations," the trainee said, removing his hand from her pulse. Everyone around gasped.
"Are you sure, Evie?" she asked breathlessly, her ears ringing.
"Yes, your Highness, I am confident. You can countercheck with another physician if you want to," he said, looking confused. He expected her to be overjoyed, but she was not; instead, she stared vacantly into nothing, while her maids on the other side were overjoyed, shedding tears of happiness.
"Write down what I am supposed to avoid and what I can do," Evie said.
"Cathy, once he is done, pay him and send him on his way," Evie said, breathing deeply.
"How is he, and why are we paying him?" Renata asked, strolling into the gazebo.
"No one of importance that you should know of," Evie said, smiling uncomfortably, excusing Cathy and the trainee physician.
Renata sniffed around when they passed by her, looking at Evie as she sat down. "Are you sick by any chance?" she asked.
