In the Rose Pavilion, Isabella lay on the bed, looking deathly pale, her lips cracked, as physicians milled in and out of the bedchambers. The emperor sat there, his dark circles under his eyes very visible. He had been at her bedside for the whole night physically, but he left his mind back in the Supreme Pavilion. As much as he was worried about Lady Isabella, he was more worried about Lady Elara and what she was doing and how she was doing in the Supreme Hall alone.
"Your Majesty," Isabella said, finally waking up, "what happened to me?" she said, turning to her side to face him, tears streaming down her face.
"You fainted yesterday in front of the Supreme Hall pavilion. The physicians said you were poisoned and gave you the antidote."
"Who would do such an awful thing to me?" she said, now fully sobbing. "I haven't done anything to anyone. I lost my baby, and now I'm poisoned. What have I done to deserve this?" she said between sobs.
