Chapter 1 - THE UNBLESSED

"What a nice day for hunting...."

A fifteen-year-old boy with messy brown hair and peach-black eyes crouched low in the bushes, barely breathing as he watched a reindeer graze peacefully ahead of him.

"This time... I've got it.

A grin crept across his face.

"Hehehe... this is going to be an easy catch."

With a burst of reckless confidence, he lunged forward, charging with all the speed his body could manage.

"GOTCHA—!

-POW! POW! POW!

The reindeer retaliated instantly.

Sora was sent rolling across the dirt, struck again and again by hooves far stronger than he expected. Still, he forced himself back up, teeth clenched, eyes burning with stubborn resolve.

Again and again. Each attempt ended the same way—with him bruised, battered, and humiliated.

"Need help?"

A calm voice echoed from above. Sora looked up to see a blue-haired boy standing casually on a tree branch, arms folded, watching like this was nothing more than a game..

"Stay out of this,Rin Arclight!"

Rin tilted his head."Why are you so worked up? I'm just trying to help. Besides..."

He smirked. "I am older than, so talk with respect, Sora Arclight!".

"Don't say my name like that, butthead!" Sora snapped.

"And since you're so amazing because you're a Saint, why don't you hunt it down?"

Rin's eyes sparkled. "Oh? Is that a challenge?"

A wide grin spread across his face. "Because if it is, I gladly accept. "

He leapt from the tree—THUD!—and crashed face–first into the ground. For a moment, there was silence. Then —"HAHAHA!" Sora doubled over, laughing until his chest hurt.He snapped a tree branch from the ground and raised it like a microphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen! On the right ,we have Rin Arclight, a Saint blessed by God himself and the left–our heroic reindeer, fighting desperately so it doesn't end up as tonight's dinner!"

He spread his arms dramatically. "Let's the war begin!"

".... Who exactly are you talking to?" Rin asked, brushing dirt from his clothes. Sora pointed sharply."Better get ready– because that reindeer is about to make you it's dinner."

The reindeer roared and changed. Rin stepped forward calmly, eyes steady, posture perfect.

"Watch and learn, Sora".

In an instant, Rin vanished. Before the reindeer could even react, Rin reappeared midair above and–

SHNK!

A dagger pierced cleanly through the beats neck. The beast collapsed."Done",Rin said casually, twirling the dagger around his finger. Sora looked away.

"Tch... yeah.Yeah." He tightened the rope around the corpse with more force than necessary.

" You only won because you are a Saint",he muttered. "You saints are blessed by God.. given power without earning it".His voice dropped, quieter now–almost fragile.

"One day... l'll become a Saint too".He clenched his fist. "I won't saty weak forever". He muttered dragging the corpse.

An hour later, as the brothers made their way back, they spotted a blonde–haired girl lying unconscious in the middle of the road. Without hesitation, they carried her with them.

LOCATION:MOUNT MORI

"We're almost home," Sora said, standing on a cliff overlooking a small village nestled below.

Thirty minutes later–"MOOOM! We're home–and we brought company!" Rin shouted, out of breath.

"Oh dear... what happened to her?Miss Arclight asked, concern flashing across her calm face. Sora gently laid the girl on the sofa, carefully bandaging her wounds with practiced hands.

Two days passed. The girl finally stirred, breathing heavily as her eyes fluttered open.

"Huh? You're awake?"Rin said, seated nearby. Sora suddenly appeared at her side.

"Hey! I'm Sora Arclight, and this poor excuse for a human being is my brother". Rin's eyes twitched.

"Poor excuse for a human?"– CRASH! A flower vase shattered against the wall.

"Boys".Miss Arclight 's voice dropped. A terrifying aura flooded the room.

"Y–Yes, Mom..."both boys muttered instantly.

She turned back to the girl, smiling gently. "Dear, what name do you go by?"

"Lucy...Lucy Newgate", she answered softly."Where am I?" She asked.

" You're in Mount Mori. This is my humble home".She glanced at the boys."And those two idiots are my sons."

EVENING

"I'm going to my room", Sora said quickly. He sat by the window, staring at the full moon. He always did. It reminded him of his father. The man who never lived long enough to see him become anything more than unblessed. Then–BOOOOM! A violent explosion tore through the house.Sora rushed to see what caused the explosion. And then– "SORA–WATCH OUT!".

"Too late". CRASH!!!

Sora was punched through multiple buildings, vanishing into the night.

"Weaklings", a voice growled from the shadows. A demon of living darkness stepped forward– wings dripping darkness, teeth like swords–holding the severed head of the village chief.

"HAHAHA!" It laughed drinking the blood pouring from the head. "How pitiful "
