They followed Headmistress Evelyn down to the lowest floor of the fortress.
"Damn, it feels like we just walked down a hundred floors," Revo muttered.
The room was dark and gloomy—a long hallway that strangely reminded Orion of the one in Ember's dungeon, disappearing into endless darkness.
"Once you enter this hallway, you'll officially be inside the dungeon," Evelyn said, turning toward them. "Rachel and I won't go any further. You'll be on your own. We'll only intervene if things go completely out of control."
Everyone nodded, determination filling their faces.
"Wait, does that mean you'll be monitoring us inside the dungeon?" Orion asked.
The Headmistress gave him a strange look before replying, "No. Lilian and the other hero candidates each carry an emergency communicator. They can contact us if something goes wrong."
Orion let out a sigh of relief.
Then, one by one, they stepped into the hallway.
