...And now, they had become utter and complete failures.
"...El!"
Akainu gritted his teeth, seething with rage in his heart.
"Zehahahaha!"
Suddenly... Laughter echoed from not far away.
Akainu recognized that voice — it was all too familiar.
He looked up...
And there stood Blackbeard!
Throughout this entire war...
Even though he held the title of Warlord of the Sea, Blackbeard had never answered the Navy's call.
He had failed to appear on the battlefield when he was needed most.
What is the meaning of showing up now?
Instinctively, Akainu sensed it...
This guy Blackbeard...
Was up to no good.
He definitely wasn't here with good intentions.
Akainu's body instantly erupted with blazing magma...
Hiding the full extent of his terrible injuries from Blackbeard's sight.
Blackbeard stared intently at the wounds across Akainu's chest...
His eyes flashing with sharp, calculating light.
"Admiral Akainu... your injuries look quite severe, don't they?"
Blackbeard asked in a probing tone.
"Hmph... dealing with petty villains is still a trivial matter for me!"
Akainu stood up straight...
His expression stern and grave...
His eyes cold as ice as he glared at Blackbeard.
Blackbeard acted as if he were frightened...
Smiling, he said: "Is that so? That really is quite impressive then!"
Though he said this, there wasn't the slightest trace of fear in his eyes.
Akainu spoke coldly: "Marshall D. Teach... what are you doing here?"
Blackbeard grinned.
"Why, I'm here to help you Marines, of course!"
He laughed wickedly, revealing his distinctive gold teeth.
Akainu didn't believe for a second that Blackbeard would be so kind-hearted.
This man was a classic opportunist.
Now that the Navy was clearly at a disadvantage, why would Blackbeard suddenly come to offer assistance?
Don't make me laugh.
A look of disdain appeared on Akainu's face.
"I know you don't believe me... but I truly have come here to offer my help."
Blackbeard paused, then shifted his tone: "However... if you want my help, the Navy must first agree to certain conditions of mine."
Blackbeard then proceeded to explain his demands in great detail.
The more Akainu listened, the more shocked and alarmed he became.
How does Blackbeard have such audacity?!
And how does he know so much about the inner workings of the Navy?!
If this had been in the past...
Akainu wouldn't have even bothered listening to Blackbeard's words...
And would have simply killed or captured him on the spot.
But the situation was different now.
Akainu listened to the earth-shaking roars and cheers of the pirates outside...
And looked at the ruins of what used to be Marine Headquarters...
Realizing that Blackbeard might very well be his only source of reinforcement left.
After thinking for a few seconds...
Akainu spoke grimly: "You have a deal."
"Zehahahaha!" Blackbeard burst into loud laughter.
"Excellent! You won't regret this decision!"
With that, Blackbeard let out a sharp whistle.
One by one, the members of the Blackbeard Pirates emerged from their hiding places in the shadows.
Under Akainu's watchful eye, the Blackbeard Pirates officially entered the battlefield!
"Zehahahaha!"
Standing amidst the ruins of Marine Headquarters, Blackbeard placed his hands on his hips and laughed wildly.
Countless pirates caught sight of his figure.
"That damned Blackbeard!"
"It's you! You traitor!"
"The Blackbeard Pirates... how dare you show your faces here!"
The pirates shouted furiously at him.
Especially the members of the Whitebeard Pirates.
If looks could kill...
Their furious glares would have struck Blackbeard down a thousand times over.
Blackbeard, however, didn't care in the slightest.
He acted as if they didn't even exist.
He took a powerful stride...
And leaped directly onto the bow of the Moby Dick.
He looked up at the commander — Whitebeard.
Whitebeard's eyes were colder than ice.
He spoke slowly and deeply: "Marshall D. Teach!"
"You betrayed your comrades... and today, I will make you understand the true meaning of regret!"
Blackbeard laughed as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world.
"Father... don't say things that even you yourself don't believe."
"Do you really think that's possible now?!"
Having said that, he turned as if to leave.
That was right.
Even though Whitebeard was heavily injured and weak, Blackbeard still didn't have the courage to fight him one-on-one.
His plan was simply to mock and provoke him...
Help the Navy gain the upper hand in the battle...
And finally, reap all the benefits for himself once the fighting was over.
He didn't have the courage to truly challenge the strongest men.
But as Blackbeard turned around...
He saw Ace standing right behind him!
Blazing, intense flames erupted all over Ace's body...
Burning hotter and brighter than ever before!
"BLACKBEARD!!!"
The temperature of the fire surrounding Ace was scorching hot...
But his voice was cold, icy, and deep — as if it had come straight from the depths of hell!
Blackbeard froze, completely dumbfounded at the sight.
"Ace?"
"How... how are you still alive?!"
Blackbeard asked in total disbelief.
He was absolutely certain that the Navy had already executed Ace.
