Chapter 78 - Chapter 78 – I'm the Reincarnation of a Goddess?

Type-Moon/Fate World.

''Eh?! EHHHHH?!''

Tohsaka Rin stared at the screen, eyes bulging at the sight of 'herself'.

Why on earth did the legendary Ishtar have her face?

Beside her, Emiya Shirou raised an eyebrow, equally stunned.

Since when did Tohsaka become a Servant? Isn't she a Magus?

''Oh?''

Gilgamesh studied Rin with amusement, a strange glint in his eyes. ''So that fool chose you as her vessel.''

''In a way, you two are a perfect match.''

''??????'' Rin looked as though her worldview had shattered.

I'm the reincarnation of a goddess? What goddess is perpetually broke?!

Chaldea, Type-Moon/Fate World.

''Can… can that even be called a Servant?''

Fujimaru Ritsuka sucked in a breath; the thought of facing something like Tiamat in the future sent a wave of dread through her.

This was far beyond what any ordinary Servant could handle.

Even 'Solomon', who had once stood before her, felt less terrifying than the Tiamat in the video.

Unless that 'Solomon' had a second form up his sleeve…

While Fujimaru reeled, Mash hadn't caught up to the latest footage.

''Goddess Tiamat… impossible.''

In the control room, Dr. Roman's pupils shrank. He knew exactly what level of enemy this was.

Not even Gilgamesh could defeat her; a handful of divine Servants wouldn't tip the scales.

The two sides weren't even in the same league.

Despair—utter, absolute. Roman could think of no way to win.

Could Seventh Singularity mark the end of Chaldea?

Or… Roman hesitated, glancing at his hand. If he wished, he could reclaim his identity as Solomon right now—but at what cost?

''Stop spacing out and gather data.''

Da Vinci tapped his shoulder. ''Besides, that world still has Merlin and Gilgamesh—top-tier Heroic Spirits. They'll come up with something.''

''Let's hope so.''

Roman sighed and turned back to the screen.

Seventh Singularity – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia.

''So it has come at last.''

The smile vanished from Wise King Gilgamesh's face as he watched Tiamat appear; he wasn't surprised.

With Clairvoyance EX, he had already seen the future.

He knew better than anyone what fate awaited Uruk.

In the footage,

The colossal Goddess Tiamat stood upon the sea, eyes opening, lips parting to reveal fangs.

''Aaaaaaaaaaaaa—!!''

A primordial cry rang out.

Fujimaru Ritsuka's pupils trembled—she was terrified. Facing an enemy of this caliber, anyone would feel fear.

Even the viewers outside the screen could sense Fujimaru's dread. Invincible—an opponent like this probably couldn't be beaten at all.

Rumble—!!

The water surface surged upward; the black mud multiplied at breakneck speed, replacing the seawater and rushing into the distance.

Boom—!!

The pterosaur spread its wings and soared high, away from the black mud in the water.

The mud kept swelling like the world-ending flood of myth. It surged forward, swallowing a vast stretch of land in one gulp and spreading even farther.

''She's looking at Uruk.'' Fujimaru's eyes widened as she realized Tiamat was staring straight at the city.

''That's her true form?'' Ishtar exclaimed in shock.

''Let's return to Uruk and regroup with Gilgamesh.'' The golden-haired woman—Quetzalcoatl—spoke calmly: ''We absolutely can't win right now.''

At that moment, Fujimaru's communicator crackled: ''Quetzalcoatl, as the supreme deity of South America, even your Noble Phantasm can't defeat Tiamat?''

Quetzalcoatl hesitated, then answered slowly: ''Even using Ishtar's authority, even every resource Mesopotamia has left, we couldn't scratch Goddess Tiamat.''

As those words fell, the camera cut to Tiamat in the distance; despair seeped through the screen.

Even separated by the display, everyone felt that hopelessness—an opponent who simply could not be beaten.

''Let's go back.''

In the end Fujimaru yielded, forced to retreat for now.

The scene shifted.

Inside a palace both modest and opulent.

Gilgamesh sat upon his throne, but his appearance and aura were utterly different from No. 8's.

Before him stood four spear-wielding soldiers.

''Report.''

Wise King Gilgamesh spoke evenly.

''The black mud has swallowed the city of Girsu and is flowing toward Umma and Uruk.''

''Like blazing black flames!''

''Umma's walls won't hold! Time to reach Uruk—''

Before they could finish, the Wise King raised a hand, cutting them off. ''Understood.''

He rose, swept his arm wide, and shouted: ''Weigh anchor—!!!''

''Ooooh—!!!''

Countless voices roared.

The Wise King flashed a confident smile.

The scene shifted again; the camera panned to the distance where the black tide surged endlessly toward Uruk.

The Wise King's voice rang out once more.

''Napishtim's Teeth—deploy!!!''

Boom—!!

From the ground rose row upon row of fang-like defenses.

The distant black wave rushed forward and slammed into the barrier.

The all-corrosive tide was now held back by the devices known as 'Napishtim's Teeth.'

The people cheered.

Step by step the Wise King strode from the palace. ''It's holding… at last we've come to this.''

''For half a year this king endured in silence.''

''O Mother of Origins, Tiamat of the Beasts—next unfolds a myth even I cannot foresee!''

''Will you devour the world, or will humanity prove it can Trailblaze it?''

''Time for the answer—let the final battle of the Age of Gods begin!''

The final shot rested on the Wise King's resolute face.
