Chapter 100 — "I'm Back, Baby"
The resistance base was hidden in a ravine, concealed by rock and cloaked in stolen tech. Makeshift barricades, scavenged weapon crates, and medical tents lined the narrow canyon, but despite the raw conditions, it was buzzing with energy and people—fighters, scientists, refugees. Survivors.
Barry, Oliver, and Sara followed Leo Snart deeper into the camp, still catching their breath after the prison escape. The adrenaline hadn't faded. The confusion hadn't either.
Leo's voice was sharp. "Keep your eyes open. Whoever helped us—he's dangerous."
And then they saw him.
Sitting on a rock near a broken-down truck, relaxed like he didn't just murder a Nazi general and vanish like a ghost.
He wore the same black uniform, but the coat was unzipped now, slightly bloodied. His combat boots were muddy. A lit cigarette burned between his fingers. His face was still mostly covered by the dark tactical mask.
He looked like a soldier.
But something about him… wasn't.
Leo raised his gun instantly. "You. Stand up."
The soldier didn't move. He just took a slow drag from his cigarette and tilted his head.
Leo's finger twitched. "I said, who are you?"
The soldier let out a small sigh, stood up slowly, and with the cigarette still burning between his lips, reached for his mask.
"I mean, come on," he said with a grin under the mask. "I die for a few weeks, and no one remembers me anymore?"
He pulled the mask off.
Barry stopped cold.
Sara took a sharp breath.
Oliver blinked twice, then whispered, "No way."
The soldier smiled softly, his familiar sharp eyes meeting theirs.
It was Dante.
Dante hart
Alive.
Smirking like nothing had changed.
"Hey guys," he said, tossing the mask onto a nearby crate. "Miss me?"
For a long second, no one said anything.
The world had stopped spinning.
"Dante…" Barry's voice cracked.
"But—" Sara shook her head. "You died. We saw you die. The Void Force was… it was eating you alive."
Dante chuckled and stretched his arms. "Yeah, yeah. Pretty dramatic exit, right? I thought so too."
Oliver stepped forward, eyes narrowed. "Then how… how are you here?"
Dante took another drag from his cigarette, exhaled slowly, then looked at Barry.
"The Speed Force."
Barry's eyes widened.
"It took me," Dante said, his voice quieter now. "At the moment of death. Right before I was gone… it reached out. Pulled me in. Said… it wasn't my time."
Leo lowered his gun slightly. "The Speed Force talks?"
Dante shrugged. "Only when it wants to mess with you."
He looked at Barry again, more serious now. "It told me I had more to do. More to give. That if I was willing to pay the cost, I could keep living. But not back home. Not yet."
Oliver asked, "So it sent you here?"
Dante nodded. "Earth-X. Dropped me here like a bad joke. And let me tell you…" He gestured around the canyon. "This place? It's hell."
He took one last puff of the cigarette before crushing it under his boot.
"You have no idea how many Nazi scumbags I've had to fight off just to survive. Half of them think I'm one of them because of this uniform. The other half try to kill me on sight." He laughed to himself. "But I made it work."
Sara still stared at him like she couldn't believe he was real. "You were gone. We all thought you were gone."
"I was," Dante said softly. "For a while."
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"There were moments I didn't think I'd ever get out. That I'd be stuck here forever. But then I heard about Leo's rebellion. I saw their signals. And I figured…" He smiled again. "If I'm gonna be stuck in hell, might as well raise some of it."
Barry finally stepped closer, still stunned. "Why didn't you show your face sooner?"
Dante shrugged. "Didn't want to get your hopes up. Besides, it was kind of fun showing up and breaking that Nazi bastard's neck. Knock knock." He grinned.
Oliver cracked a tiny smile. "Still dramatic, I see."
"Always," Dante said proudly.
Leo finally lowered his weapon completely. "Well… I'll be damned. I thought you were a ghost."
"I get that a lot," Dante replied. Then he glanced at Barry. "I'm guessing Kara's not with you?"
Barry shook his head, the weight returning to his face. "They took her."
Dante's eyes darkened. "Then we get her back."
Sara looked around the camp. "You've been here long enough. What are we up against?"
Dante turned serious now, the smile fading.
"Earth-X headquarters is a fortress. Covered in anti-meta tech. Guarded by them—, Oliver-X, Supergirl-X. And Thawne." He paused. "Thawne's… worse than before. I don't know what he's planning, but it's big."
Barry clenched his fists. "Then we stop him. We get Kara. We finish this."
Dante looked at him for a moment—then extended his hand.
"I got your back, Barry."
Barry gripped it tightly.
"Welcome back," he said.
Dante grinned.
"Damn right."
He turned to the others and cracked his knuckles.
"Now let's go kill some Nazis."
