Chapter 19: A King in Rags
After Aki turned the tower guards into poultry, Volt's ship silently docked in a secluded, fog-drenched cove on the Human Continent. Volt knew that entering the capital in full demonic regalia would immediately alert the human legions.
"Sai, bring me those commoner garments we confiscated," Volt ordered coldly. He traded his shimmering black mantle for a set of worn, travel-stained tunics that made him look like a destitute mercenary fleeing a lost war.
Sai, concealing his massive shield under a tattered cloak, glanced wearily at Aki. The thief had donned a bright feathered costume he'd stolen from the Elves, looking like an oversized, colorful bird. "Aki, the whole city will hunt us just because they're hungry for roast chicken!".
Aki huffed indignantly. "This is a disguise! When humans see a magnificent bird like this, they don't suspect a master thief is inside!".

Aki immediately began to "cluck" and scratch the dirt to sell the performance. The guard scoffed in disgust and moved on.
Volt glared at Sai with eyes that promised fire. "Sai, if you ever call me a beggar again, or if Aki clucks one more time, I swear I will burn this entire city to the ground.".
