Chapter 29 - Chapter 28 : In her eyes, Su Wen increasingly resembled a fox skilled at bewitching hearts

Business here was far too good. Snow pork lived up to its reputation as a northern delicacy, and when paired with malt liquor, it drew diners from all over the continent.

She and Wu Feng had come to An Yang City because an elder needed to hunt a soul beast. After endless pleading, her father had finally agreed to let her tag along.

Earlier, the elder had encountered a refined middle-aged man....apparently an acquaintance....and introduced him as the future dean of the Martial Soul Department of Shrek Academy.

The two began chatting, leaving Ning Tian and Wu Feng behind.

Feeling thirsty, the two girls searched for a tavern.

Unfortunately, every place they passed was either closed or packed—until this one.

"I'm very sorry, young… sir," the attendant said apologetically.

"All tables are full. If you don't mind, perhaps you could share a table with another guest."

"Thank you," Ning Tian replied politely.

Her eyes swept the room

...then brightened.

She quickly led Wu Feng toward the innermost table.

"Excuse me," Ning Tian asked courteously, "is this seat taken?"

"Yes."

Su Wen didn't even look up, fully focused on annihilating his food.

What, are your eyes just for decoration?

Yan Shaozhe—an entire living person—had been sitting right across from him a moment ago.

"Hey! Do you have any sense at all?" Wu Feng snapped angrily.

"You're hogging an entire table by yourself.....do you own this place or what?"

"Hm?"

Su Wen raised an eyebrow and finally looked up.

The seat across from him was empty. Even the plates were gone.

…Wait.

Where the hell did Dean Yan go?!

So absorbed in eating, Su Wen hadn't even noticed when Yan Shaozhe slipped away.

Still, he wasn't worried. With Xuan Zi, Su Wen would already be halfway home in fear....but Yan Shaozhe was different.

At worst, the man was lurking nearby as silent protection.

Su Wen gestured with his chin. "Sit."

"Hmph!"

Wu Feng crossed her arms, shooting him a provocative glare as she sat down.

Ning Tian shot her a look, and the two finally settled.

"Young—ah, sir," Wu Feng swallowed, staring at the meat.

"I hear the snow pork here is famous. Shall we order some?"

"Yes," Ning Tian nodded.

Once the attendant left with the payment, Su Wen put down his knife and studied Ning Tian with interest.

Short hair, yet her features retained a subtle softness. Her clothes were clearly expensive. She was trying to pass as male—but the disguise was crude.

Compared to that Tang princess's seamless disguises, this was child's play.

"Hey! Why are you staring at my… sir?" Wu Feng barked defensively.

"Cross-dressing?" Su Wen chuckled.

"…What?"

Ning Tian's pupils shrank instantly.

"That's ridiculous! Don't spout nonsense—" Wu Feng blurted out, stunned.

She had personally done the makeup. How could it be exposed at a glance?!

"The one who did your makeup is just bad at it," Su Wen said lightly.

"Anyone who can't tell is the real idiot."

"And don't worry—I'm not interested in your young miss. Stop biting everyone you see."

Silence fell over the table.

After a brief pause, Ning Tian looked at Su Wen again—this time with entirely different eyes.

The same kind.

She smiled, extending her hand.

"My apologies for the misunderstanding. Let me properly introduce myself."

"Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect, Young Sect Master—Ning Tian."

"Young Sect Master…" Wu Feng said nervously.

Revealing their identity outside was dangerous....especially without elders present.

The Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect was wealthy, famous, and surrounded by enemies.

"It's fine," Ning Tian said softly, shaking her head.

Judging by his age and composure, Su Wen was clearly the young master of some top-tier power.

Since he had already seen through everything, there was no need to hide.

Su Wen smiled and took her hand.

"Shrek Academy," he said calmly.

"Su Wen."

Their hands clasped.

Chomp, chomp…

Wu Feng chewed angrily on her snow pork, shooting Su Wen vicious glares from time to time.

Meanwhile, Su Wen was chatting enthusiastically with Ning Tian, occasionally flashing Wu Feng a deliberately provocative smile.

"Hmph! You said you weren't interested in the Young Miss—how are you any different from those guys in the sect?" Wu Feng muttered resentfully.

In her eyes, Su Wen increasingly resembled a fox skilled at bewitching hearts....making the Young Miss laugh, lowering her guard, and then waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Yes, that had to be it!
