Chapter 1 - The Lazy Mage

In the middle of a small dingy apartment, a young man by the name Klaus was reading in his room like any other day.

"Man, this one is getting boring, too," Klaus sighed as he tossed the manga on the floor.

"Nothing good to read anymore... It's all the same, rinse and repeat," Klaus said as he stood up and walked to his computer.

Booting up his old excuse of a computer, Kluas began looking at illegal websites for any good reads he could find.

After searching for a few dozen minutes, he found a website that seemed to have an extensive collection of all types of manga. Pressing the random recommendation took Kluas to a screen with a list of questions.

[Are you looking for something interesting?]

[Yes/No]

"What is this?" Klaus wondered as he scrolled through the page to see that it was a ten-question survey.

"Is this to show me the kind of manga I would like...I guess this page is way interactive than all the others I have been on

Pressing "yes" to the first question, Klaus moved on to the next.

[Please pick two:]

[Action/Fantasy/Adventure/Horror/Mystery/Iseki]

[Fantasy/Iseki]

[If you could be any class, what would it be]

[Warrior/Mage/Assassin/Tank/Healer/Monk]

[Mage]

[What race would you be if you were to choose]

[Human/Elf/Dwarf/Dragon/Beatskin/Demon/Angel]

[Human]

...

"Hopefully, it will give me a manga I will enjoy," Klaus said as he finished answering the questions and leaned back in his seat.

As he watched the screen continue to load, a new message appeared, but it wasn't what he was expecting.

[New World Found]

[Beginning Transorting]

"Transport..."

Before he could even register the message, Klaus found himself being turned into small blue-and-white particles.

"What the hell!!?"

Suddenly finding himself flying past stars, planets, and solar systems, Klaus could not help but be in shock at what was happening.

[Host has chosen the class Mage]

[Host has selected the race human]

[Host has chosen sub-race Spirit]

[Host has chosen the subclass: Summoner]

[Host has received the blessing of Mana]

[Host has chosen a staff as a weapon]

[Host has chosen to live a calm life]

...

"Host this and host that, what is happening?" Klaus asked about the messages that continued popping up one after the other.

[All of the host choices had been registered. Beginning best route selection]

[Race: Human]

[New Class: Grand Magus]

[New Soul Weapon: The Weaver's Lament{Staff}]

[Beginning body Reconstruction]

As the last notification rang out, Klaus felt a sudden jolt of pain shoot down his back. But before he could even recover from it, another shock of pain filled his arms and spread.

It wasn't like breaking a bone or cutting skin. This was deeper. It felt like his very cells were being torn apart and then forced back together, one by one. A cold fire burned through his veins, rewriting him from the inside out.

He screamed, a raw, animal sound. His back arched off the table as his spine felt like it was being ground into dust and then forged anew, stronger than steel. His muscles liquefied and re-knitted, and his nerves were set on fire and re-woven like threads of burning wire. He was being unmade and remade, and every second was pure agony.

But through the pain, something else began to happen. As his old, weak body was destroyed, it felt like old scars on his soul were being burned away. The fire of the reconstruction scoured out every fear and every regret he carried. It was the most painful thing he had ever felt, but with every piece of his past that was destroyed, he felt lighter.

The pain began to feel less like torture and more like a forge. It was hammering his soul into something harder, sharper, and purer. He was being purified through suffering.

His senses exploded. He could suddenly hear the hum of energy in the void and see it around him. His mind, once a chaotic mess, felt as if it were being wiped clean and rebuilt, faster and clearer than ever before.

Then, it all stopped. The pain vanished, leaving a ringing silence.

Klaus lay there, breathing heavily. He was the same person, but everything about him was different. He had been broken down to his very essence and rebuilt into something more. The pain was gone, but the power it left behind remained.

"W...what was that?" Klasu asked, the feeling of the excruciating pain still fresh in his mind.

[Body Reconstruction completed]

[Mind Strengthening Completed]

[Soul Strengthening Completed]

Taking a few minutes to calm down and recover from the reconstructions, Klaus found himself able to sit up, no longer floating in the endless void but sitting on a mattress.

Looking around, Klaus immediately knew he was not in his apartment. This place is much smaller and emptier.

"The message screen...what did you do to me?...where am I?" Klaus asked, the shock of everything making his voice shaky

[Transport has been completed]

[New World: World of Harry Potter]

[Location: London: September 1991]

As the notifications continued showing more information, Klaus slowly sat up as he read the words.

"H...Harry Potter...is this a joke? Am I losing my mind?" Klaus asked

[Did the pain you felt seem like a joke?]

Hearing that, Klaus shivered slightly, the feeling of the pain he felt still fresh in his mind.

"What are you and what did you do to me?" Klaus asked after taking a moment to compose himself

[My job was to find a new host. You. My task now is to help you]

"Help me? Help me do what?"

[For now, to adjust to your new body and life]

"My new body?" Klaus asked as he looked down

As he saw his hands and the rest of his body, Klaus almost screamed in surprise at what he saw. His body had become younger than it was when he was fifteen.
