Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 --First Transaction

Leaving aside Sword Douluo—who was currently in a frantic state, recounting the day's events to Bone Douluo while sweeping through the sect treasury like a whirlwind—Dugu Bo was in a completely different mood. His emotions surged violently, so intense that he nearly wanted to roar toward the heavens.

That mysterious shop could actually produce miracles such as the Soul Doubling Pill and the Qingming Longevity Pill. If such pills existed, then it was entirely possible that the shop also possessed a method to cure the poisons tormenting both him and Dugu Yan. With the bizarre and rare spirit herbs growing in his medicinal garden, as long as a method existed, he was confident he could afford it.

Most importantly, he had already confirmed something crucial.

The so-called Qirong Tongtian Chrysanthemum Spirit Herb was in his own medicinal garden.

And its valuation—six hundred thousand sacrificial coins.

Although he didn't know the exact names or medicinal properties of many herbs in his garden, Dugu Bo had spent decades immersed in them. His judgment of rarity was sharp. By his estimation, there were at least ten more herbs in his possession that were on the same level as the Qirong Tongtian Chrysanthemum.

Even if there was no active bounty and the exchange value would be lower, Dugu Bo didn't care in the slightest.

He had lived under the shadow of poison for years. At one point, he had already resigned himself to a short lifespan and had begun worrying about the future of his granddaughter, who was barely more than ten years old. He had even started planning fallback arrangements for her.

But now?

A path straight to the heavens had appeared out of thin air.

What was there left to hesitate about? Could the situation possibly become worse than before?

With a flash, Dugu Bo appeared inside his medicinal garden and immediately began harvesting with near-mad urgency. Any herb he judged to be mature was uprooted entirely—roots, soil, and all—before being stuffed into his Hundred Herbs Pouch.

He didn't know which parts of the herbs were required. What if some only needed the roots? It was safer to take everything. Besides, by keeping the soil intact, he could replant them later if Boss Li refused the exchange.

Dugu Bo knew every growth location in this garden like the back of his hand. After living here for more than a decade, coupled with his terrifying Douluo-level speed, the harvesting was astonishingly fast. In less than an hour, nearly everything had been collected.

The medicinal garden that once looked like a paradise suffused with spiritual energy was now filled with craters and overturned soil, as though a horde of giant rats had rampaged through it. If rain fell again, it would become an utter swamp.

Dugu Bo didn't even glance back.

His mind was completely occupied by the Sacrificial Shop.

Rising straight into the sky, he released his spirit power fluctuations without restraint, warning off any Spirit Beasts along his path. Like a green comet, he streaked above the forest canopy, heading directly for Heaven Dou City.

After both Dugu Bo and Sword Douluo departed, Ning Fengzhi remained seated inside the shop. Because he didn't leave, outsiders could only pretend to pass by, secretly observing the situation from the entrance. Seeing the sect master sitting calmly at the table, none dared to disturb him. The prestige of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School still carried immense weight.

As a result, not a single customer entered before Sword Douluo returned.

Li Rong wasn't in the least bit anxious.

As long as Dugu Bo's transaction succeeded today, the Sacrificial Shop's reputation would spread like wildfire. To accelerate this, he had deliberately placed several items on the activity list that were perfectly suited to Dugu Bo's situation. He was confident that Poison Douluo wouldn't be able to resist.

More importantly, Dugu Bo was rich.

On the entire continent, there was no one wealthier than him.

Once word spread, Li Rong planned to use Dugu Bo's name to announce that the main store had recognized this continent's purchasing power. He would then update the bounty and activity lists—placing easy-to-obtain items on the bounty list, and longevity pills and spirit-power-enhancing pills on the activity list.

He didn't believe people wouldn't lose their minds.

Time passed unnoticed. As the sun approached its zenith, Li Rong was just about to close the shop temporarily and head to the small restaurant he had frequented recently when a sharp sword light descended at the entrance.

Sword Douluo had returned first.

Li Rong couldn't help but feel a trace of disappointment. He had been rather looking forward to seeing the supposedly calm and unfathomably wealthy Sect Master Ning get battered by reality until his composure shattered.

Suppressing his mischievous thoughts, Li Rong straightened his posture and adopted a serious expression.

Ning Fengzhi calmly accepted a high-grade storage spirit tool from Sword Douluo, then began taking out the sect's long-treasured Spirit Bones one by one. In no time, the table was filled.

"Boss Li," Ning Fengzhi asked, "how many sacrificial coins would these be worth?"

Li Rong immediately exchanged for an appraisal technique. Picking up the first black Spirit Bone, he glanced at it once before reading aloud:

"Ten-Thousand-Year Underworld Wolf Right Leg Bone. Completeness: 82%. Spirit Ability: Underworld Shadow Needles, a multi-stage area-of-effect ability. Single-needle damage is low, with no additional effects. Release speed is fast, spirit power consumption is relatively high. Attack range is narrow, and effective distance is short."

He paused briefly, then continued, "Low completeness, and the Spirit Ability has clear defects. Among third-grade goods, it's on the lower end. I can offer 5,200 sacrificial coins. Does School Master Ning agree?"

Ning Fengzhi felt genuine admiration.

Without refining it—merely by touching and glancing—Li Rong had accurately identified every detail, even analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the Spirit Ability. It was nothing short of miraculous.

At the very least, Ning Fengzhi had never heard of any Spirit Master capable of such a feat.

"Ning has no objections," he said. "Boss Li, what about this one?"

"These Spirit Bones, along with that large storage spirit tool," Li Rong concluded, "are worth a total of three hundred and ten thousand sacrificial coins. Is School Master Ning willing to trade?"

Ning Fengzhi agreed without hesitation.

As long as it could extend the lives of Uncle Sword and Uncle Bone by twenty years, it was worth it. Spirit Bones could always be repurchased with enough gold and time. But something like a Longevity Pill—once missed—might never appear again.

Moreover, the imperial family had contacted him the previous day, requesting that he share his information and promising not to send anyone into the shop before receiving it. Otherwise, how could these Longevity Pills still be here? The imperial treasury was far closer than the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.

Li Rong took out a crystal card, credited 310,000 sacrificial coins, and handed it over. "This card carries a restriction set by the Sacrificial Dao Lord. It records the cardholder's spirit power characteristics and soul fluctuations. No one else can use it."

Ning Fengzhi's expression stiffened. "Can someone use it on my behalf?"

"No."

"What if the cardholder dies?"

"You may bring the heir here in advance to create a backup. Upon the original holder's death, the heir will automatically inherit the card."

"And if it's lost or damaged?"

"I keep complete transaction records. The cardholder may come in person for a replacement."

Only then did Ning Fengzhi relax. "Boss Li, I want to exchange for three Qingming Longevity Pills."

Li Rong said nothing more. He gestured for Ning Fengzhi to place the card on the reader. With a soft ding, 240,000 sacrificial coins were deducted.

Ning Fengzhi's heart ached.

Li Rong retrieved three pill bottles and pushed them forward.

Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin exchanged glances before opening them. Instantly, a rich fragrance filled the air. After just a few breaths, Ning Fengzhi felt his body lighten. With a few more, every cell screamed in hunger. A deep instinct echoed within his soul:

Eat it.

He forcefully suppressed the urge, put one bottle away, and slid the other toward Chen Xin. "Uncle Sword," he said firmly, "the three of us have always stood together—before, now, and until death."

Chen Xin nodded slowly. "Until death."

They swallowed the pills together.

Leaning back in their chairs, they felt the medicinal power seep into their bodies and souls, warm and all-encompassing. Youth slowly returned. The exhaustion of years quietly faded.

Only after a long while did the two finally open their eyes.
