Chapter 427
Julie's POV
I spun on him, rage boiling in my chest like a torrent while my whole body trembled violently under the weight of the warm blood splattering my face and neck.
I screamed at him, my voice tearing through my throat:
"You bastard!... What if your hand had slipped and you shot me?!"
He slid his gun back into the holster beneath his jacket with measured slowness. His steel features remained frozen, unblinking, before he drawled with dry, suffocating coldness:
"I'd bury you. It's a very ordinary thing for me."
My pupils dilated in utter shock. I stared at the guard's corpse sprawling at my feet, my voice raw with agony:
"And what did this poor man do to you for you to slaughter him so brutally?!"
He cast a glance at the dark stain blooming across the marble floorboards, then lifted his eyes to meet mine, uttering with absolute finality:
"He died because of you."
