I ignored the blatant trembling in my hands and the throbbing ache in my body that screamed with every movement. Stepping forward with staggered paces that bordered on staggering, I headed toward the wooden wardrobe. I gripped its edge for a few seconds until my knuckles turned white to gather my strength, then pulled out a pair of short black shorts and a light cotton shirt.
I put them on with a frantic, hysterical speed, as if trying to scrape away his filth and strip away the nakedness of my body that he had possessed and desecrated moments ago. My breaths came out ragged and lost, but my burning desire for revenge did not stop for a single second; rather, it grew like a rolling snowball of fury. I ran with bare feet toward my brother Steve's wardrobe, flung its two doors open with a violent force that caused a loud creak, and snatched two wide, extremely sturdy leather belts.
