Chapter 229 - Chapter 228: Slaughter Spree, Quinque

As Luca gave the order, Tony also turned his gaze toward the fully armed individuals waiting in the room.

Tony used to have a bodyguard too. Before he became Iron Man, Happy Hogan was practically inseparable from him. Even when Tony was on a date with a cover model, Happy would dutifully stand guard outside the door.

But ever since Tony developed portable and remotely deployable Mark armors, even Happy—his sole bodyguard—had been reassigned to be the head of security at Stark Industries.

Tony really couldn't understand why Luca—a kid armed to the teeth, even more so than himself, and possessing convenient tech like dimensional compression—would tolerate having a full security team following him around 24/7.

Does he think a security team can compare to machine intelligence?

However, this thought only flashed through Tony's mind for a second.

Now wasn't the time to worry about the quality of Luca's bodyguards.

With so many demons pouring out of the Aurantius Tower, although it was late at night and there weren't many people in the building itself...

The surrounding area wasn't exactly unpopulated. If those demons were allowed to scatter into the city, New York might not be able to withstand another shock like this right now.

Moreover, after days of research, Tony had gained some understanding of demons as a species.

Human souls were like super-supplements to them. Especially souls that were exceedingly sinful or exceedingly pure.

Pure souls were hard to say, but sinful souls...

If a swarm of demons broke into the bustling districts of New York, it would truly be like letting weasels into a chicken coop.

Thinking of this, Tony didn't bother saying goodbye to Luca. He slammed his faceplate shut and turned to charge out of the floor.

CRASH~

"Hey!! My window!!"

Seeing Tony smash right through the floor-to-ceiling window and fly out, Luca yelled after him in exasperation.

But before his voice even faded, there was another crack-crash of shattering glass.

On the other side, Gwen followed Tony's lead, smashing through another pane of glass and leaping out.

"You guys... why couldn't you use the same window..."

"And..."

Muttering, Luca pressed a button next to him.

The frames of the two shattered windows began to slide open with a whir-clatter.

However, perhaps because the impact force of the two heroes had damaged the tracks, or maybe shards of glass had jammed the mechanism...

One of the broken windows clanked repeatedly and got stuck halfway open.

Seeing this, Luca's face darkened with black lines. He looked speechlessly at Shield and the others, who hadn't moved yet.

"Why haven't you left?"

Seeing their young master seemingly flying into a rage out of embarrassment, Shield quickly grabbed Green Bull, who looked like he wanted to say something, gave a shout, and jumped out of the half-open window just like the others.

Of course, the reason Shield's team dared to imitate Tony and Gwen by jumping from dozens of stories up wasn't because they wanted to provoke their master's bad luck and die.

In fact, the entire Shield Squad was currently equipped with custom-made Muscle Enhancement Armor.

This suit not only featured external flight jetpacks, energy sabers, and energy guns as standard equipment...

But most peculiarly, each of them carried a plain-looking, pure white metal suitcase in their hands.

After flying out of the tower one by one, seeing that Iron Man and Ghost-Spider had already engaged the scattered demons rushing out, and that their young master had deployed the building's drone swarm for support, Captain Shield immediately began issuing orders to his squad.

"Longbow, take the high ground on the building opposite. Clear out any demons capable of flight. Focus on sniping strong individuals."

"Wolf Spider, take the building security and coordinate with the drones to intercept any demons spreading out on the ground."

"Green Bull, Thresh. You two come with me. We're storming the fifth floor to support Mr. Si Bei!"

"Move out!"

After rapidly assigning tasks, Shield didn't delay. He controlled his flight pack to arc through the air, diving toward the temporary medical floor on level five.

However, Green Bull, upon receiving the order, was even faster than Shield.

He excitedly spun around in mid-air and instantly engaged his jetpack for a high-speed dive.

"Hahaha! Finally, I get to test the new gear!"

As he spoke, the white suitcase in Green Bull's hand suddenly burst open. The detached outer shell was blown away by the powerful airflow generated during his dive.

All that remained was the handle he had been gripping, and a bizarre, glowing chunk of meat connected to the handle that hadn't flown away with the case.

The moment this strange meat chunk left the case, it expanded in the wind.

In the blink of an eye, the small lump of flesh swelled into a ferocious-looking long-handled giant axe.

It was clearly a large cold weapon with a metallic sheen, yet the blazing red veins pulsing on its surface like blood vessels suggested that the weapon itself was a living creature.

As the diving Green Bull finally reached the position of the fifth floor...

He spun violently in the air, gripping the axe handle with both hands, and delivered a heavy, powerful chop straight into the building's outer wall.

The sharp axe blade sank into the wall. Using the momentary resistance and the thrust from his jetpack, Green Bull smashed through, knocking aside the demons who were recklessly trying to rush out of the building.

Stomping on two demons as he burst into the floor, Green Bull didn't pause for a second. He swung the giant axe in a full circle, effectively standardizing the height of the surrounding demons.

The sharp axe blade sliced through the air, leaving a trail of blazing red light.

Wherever the red light passed, every roaring demon was sliced in half at the waist. Only a field of legs remained standing for a moment before collapsing weakly as they lost momentum.

Even two innocent support pillars nearby were severed by the swing.

Green Bull's vanguard charge cleared a space for his two teammates behind him.

Shield and Thresh followed closely, rushing onto the floor.

However, both of them waited until they entered the battlefield before leisurely deploying their suitcases.

In Shield's hand was a massive tower shield nearly as tall as a person. Its surface was covered in textures resembling magma rock, pulsing constantly like a living thing.

The weapon that "grew" from Thresh's suitcase was more "conventional"—it was his familiar multi-barrel Gatling gun.

Except, encasing the barrels of this Gatling gun was a hideous demon skull.

As the barrels began to spin and warm up, the terrifying demon skull actually let out a bizarre cackle-cackle laugh.

Seeing the demons, who had just been cleared out slightly, crowding back in, the three men showed no nervousness. Instead, they looked eager to try out their toys.

However, just as the most excited one, Green Bull, was preparing to rush in and start a slaughter, Luca's annoyed voice came over the comms channel.

"Green Bull! Go back and pick up the Quinque Cultivation Case you threw away! Or I'm docking your pay for the month!"
