Chapter 38 - I Am Lord Jashin’s Dog

Simu gently adjusted his glasses. He had originally intended to let this identity return for a rest and perform some body modifications, but now it seemed that wouldn't be possible.

Several cultists ran from a distance and stopped before Simu, bowing respectfully. "Divine Son, the Leader has requested your presence."

Despite their best efforts to hide it, Simu could sense the tension and unease radiating from them.

He gave a knowing smile and replied kindly, "I understand. I will head over now."

Although Simu appeared to be out on a mission with Hidan these past few days, his surveillance of the headquarters had not relaxed for a single moment. After all...

The blood pool at the headquarters is my actual main body, hey!

Due to the unique nature of his main body, Simu could not directly "open" his eyes to observe his surroundings. However, the Black Beetles and crows omnipresent throughout the headquarters served as his best ears and eyes.

Even the high-and-mighty Leader of the Jashin Religion was essentially naked before him. If Simu wished, he could even identify the color of everyone's underwear.

Nevertheless, there was no need for that. While Simu wasn't human, he wasn't exactly a pervert either.

Controlling his clone, he arrived at the Leader's room and lightly knocked on the door.

"It's Simu. Come in."

A cold, indifferent voice drifted from inside.

Simu pushed open the door to find the Leader sitting on a sofa, a cigarette dangling casually from his mouth.

"It's been a few days. The Leader's complexion seems much better," Simu said with a smile.

This wasn't mere flattery; the middle-aged man's mental state truly did look improved.

Hearing this, the Leader paused and subconsciously touched his own face.

It really is true!

Ever since Simu and Hidan left for their mission, he had been eating well and sleeping until he woke up naturally. He didn't have to worry about sudden explosions happening somewhere. Naturally, his spirit had improved significantly!

Noticing the change in the Leader's expression, Simu smiled slightly. "It seems Hidan usually disturbs the Leader's peace."

The Leader nodded in deep agreement. "Exactly, exactly..."

"Ahem! I didn't call you here to discuss that!"

The Leader finally pulled the conversation back from Simu's diversion, his face turning serious. "I called you here because there is a very solemn matter I must ask you."

"Please, Leader."

Simu's expression remained calm.

The Leader narrowed his eyes, staring intently at Simu. "Why did you and Hidan kill Miura?"

While killing comrades wasn't considered a major crime within the Jashin Religion, Miura Kikuchi was once the second-in-command. He couldn't just die without cause, could he? Even if Simu and Hidan were Divine Sons blessed by Jashin, they couldn't just act so recklessly!

"So it's about that?"

Simu adjusted his glasses and spoke the truth. "The blame for this lies mainly with Hidan."

The Leader immediately wore an 'I knew it' expression. It was always Hidan.

"Hidan finished his pork cutlets..."

"Then he wanted to go to the hot springs..."

"Then Senior Miura snapped and wanted to teach us a lesson, but unfortunately, his skills were lacking."

"By the way, Hidan was the one who killed him. It has nothing to do with me."

Simu raised both hands to show he was innocent; it was all Hidan's fault.

The Leader sat on the sofa with a dark expression.

Good heavens. He sent them out on a mission, and they ended up eating pork cutlets, going to hot springs, and disobeying a superior.

He slammed his hand heavily against the sofa.

"And the mission? Did you complete it?"

At this, Simu rubbed his nose. "About that..."

"Although we didn't resolve the mission, we resolved the person who issued it."

This sentence nearly fried the Leader's CPU.

What did he mean by 'didn't resolve the mission but resolved the person who issued it'?

His brain whirred until it started to overheat before he finally straightened things out.

"You mean... you killed the client, Sakamoto?"

Simu nodded slightly. "Yes."

The cigarette in the Leader's hand fell to the floor, and he crushed it under his foot.

"Do you have any idea how many Ryos Sakamoto donated to the Jashin Religion every year? And you actually took him out?" he roared in disbelief.

The Leader simply could not comprehend why these two had such bizarre thought processes!

Killing the client because the mission couldn't be completed?

What a brilliant idea!

He was so angry he started laughing.

"Good. Very good. You've done exceptionally well!"

The Leader finally stood still and turned around, glaring at Simu with sheer malice.

"I hadn't planned to act this early. But since you are so disobedient, I might as well move the plan forward!"

Simu raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Is the Leader planning to attack Lord Jashin's spokesperson? That would be disrespectful to Lord Jashin!"

Hearing Simu's words, the Leader's face twisted into a snarl. "Shut your mouth!" he roared.

He pulled a sharp Kunai from his pouch and spoke through gritted teeth. "Enough! I've had enough of you both!"

"In this world, I am the only dog of Lord Jashin!"

"I was clearly the first to believe in Lord Jashin! Why do you get to walk ahead of me and receive Lord Jashin's blessing?"

"All of this is merely a trial bestowed upon me by Lord Jashin."

His expression became increasingly manic, and he even began to gesticulate wildly.

"Now, I am going to take back everything that belongs to me!"

Faced with the Leader's threat, Simu remained very composed and reminded him, "Have you thought this through? Under Lord Jashin's protection, you might not be a match for us."

This statement was met with the Leader's cold mockery.

"Do you think I haven't come prepared?"

He said smugly, "I already made preparations in this room. The moment you walked through the door, a special incense entered your body."

A hint of playfulness appeared on his face.

"If I'm not mistaken, you should be unable to mobilize the chakra or any other powers in your body now, right?"

Simu tried, and it was indeed so.

Of course, this was all intentional.

After all, before even entering the room, the Black Beetles hidden inside had already provided this information to Simu.

"Even if you seal my power, you won't be able to use it. You still cannot become a true kin of Lord Jashin."

Simu stabbed a metaphorical knife into the Leader's heart.

The latter went into an instant frenzy. "You don't understand! You don't understand anything at all!"

He raised his hands and began to weave hand signs rapidly, muttering manically, "I... I have already found a way to obtain the power of your bodies!"

"Only I am Lord Jashin's most loyal dog!"
