Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Mirror Anchor

The 0-Pointer's foot, a mountain of iron weighing hundreds of tons, began its final descent. It wasn't just a machine anymore; it was a physical law of nature, a slow-moving apocalypse that blotted out the sun. The shadow it cast turned the street into a cold, grey tomb.

Kazama Takeru reached the debris seconds before impact. Every instinct screamed at him to run, to let the machine have the street and find points elsewhere. But he didn't move. He looked down at the jagged concrete where Setsuna Tokage's limbs were caught. To the system, they were just obstacles. To him, they were a person in need.

He didn't try to lift the slab; he didn't have the time or the raw physical strength. He knew he couldn't simply "absorb" a hit of this magnitude.

Concentrate. Don't be a sponge. Be a mirror.

Kazama planted his feet in a wide stance directly over Setsuna's trapped segments. The wind pressure from the descending foot was already pushing him down, forcing his knees to buckle. He crossed his arms over his head, his knuckles turning white. He began to oscillate his Aether Pulse at a frequency so high the air around him began to scream.

The 0-Pointer's tread made contact.

In that exact microsecond of impact, Kazama triggered Aether Refraction: Total Mirror. He flooded the impact zone with his own stored Aether energy, overlapping the 0-Pointer's massive downward momentum with his own. He forced his energy to harmonize with the incoming kinetic wave and then doubled it.

BOOM.

The sound was a deafening, metallic roar that shattered windows for three blocks. The indigo light flared with the intensity of a dying star, a pillar of violet-blue energy that pierced the dust clouds of the arena. The 0-Pointer's entire leg didn't just buckle—it exploded from the inside out.

The kinetic force sent back was twice as powerful as the initial stomp, tearing through the machine's massive hydraulic pistons and shattering its primary axle like glass. The force was so immense that the ten-story robot was physically jolted upward, its front chassis buckling inward as the energy rippled through its frame.

In the darkened monitoring room, a collective gasp rippled through the staff. Principal Nezu leaned so far forward he nearly fell off his stack of cushions, his black beady eyes reflecting the indigo explosion on the main screen.

"Marvelous!" Nezu chirped, his paws gripping the edge of the console. "He didn't just survive the collision; he inverted the entire kinetic vector. Look at the energy readings—he's not just using his own power, he's weaponizing the robot's own mass against it!"

Recovery Girl narrowed her eyes, watching the way Kazama's body shuddered under the feedback. "It's reckless. That much force passing through a human frame... even if he's 'mirroring' it, the sheer vibration could shatter his bones. He's lucky he's built up the density to handle the pass-through."

"It's not luck, Chiyo," Snipe remarked, adjusting his mask as he stared at the telemetry. "Look at his stance. He positioned himself at the exact center of the tread's weight distribution. That's calculated. He knew exactly where the pressure would be highest."

Aizawa remained silent, his eyes fix

ed on the boy in the crater. He saw the blood leaking from Kazama's nose and the way his glow flickered. "He burnt more than half his reserves in a single second," Aizawa noted dryly. "He's got a massive tank, but he just used it to parry a skyscraper. That's either the smartest move I've seen today, or the most arrogant."

"I call it 'Plus Ultra'!" All Might's voice boomed from the back of the room, his eyes shining with pride. "He didn't do it for the points. He did it for the girl!"

Back in the arena, the shockwave from the doubled reflection cleared the street instantly. Setsuna's trapped segments were blown free by the sheer pressure, flying back toward her main body.

Kazama stood in the center of a three-meter deep crater. His navy tracksuit sleeves had vaporized. His skin was flushed a deep, painful red. He felt the sudden, massive hollow in his chest—more than half of his total reserves were gone.

The 0-Pointer crashed back down, now a smoking heap of useless scrap metal.

The buzzer sounded.

"THE EXAM IS OVERRRRR!" Present Mic's voice echoed through the speakers.

Kazama eventually dropped to one knee, taking deep, ragged gulps of air. A shadow fell over him. It was Setsuna Tokage. She had reassembled herself, her green eyes wide with relief.

"Thank you... for saving me," she said softly.

Kazama wiped the blood from his nose and looked up at her, giving a weak smirkbut full of pride . "It was no problem."

One Week Later

The letter arrived in a thick envelope. Kazama tore it open, and the image of All Might flickered into life.

"YOUNG TAKERU! YOU PERFORMED SPECTACULARLY!" the hero boomed. "With 78 Combat Points, you secured the highest combat score in Battle Center A!"

"BUT THAT IS NOT ALL! A hero is someone who saves! Your stand against the 0-Pointer to save Young Tokage? A hard-earned 35 Rescue Points for that feat alone!"

The screen displayed the final tally.

Kazama Takeru

Combat Points: 78

Rescue Points: 60

Total: 138

"A DOMINANT PERFORMANCE! YOU PLACED FIRST OVERALL!"

Kazama grabbed his phone and saw the group chat was already exploding.

Hiroki: I'M IN! 45 Combat, 20 Rescue! Total 65! They put me in Class 1-A with you, Takeru!

Daichi: I passed. 26 Villain Points and 15 Rescue Points. Total of 41. I've been assigned to Class 1-B. Rank 18. It's... logical, I suppose. My quirk isn't built for destruction.

Kazama felt a twinge of disappointment. He knew Daichi had spent the exam providing tactical data that the cameras didn't reward.

Daichi: Oh, and Setsuna Tokage is in my class too. She told me to thank the 'glow-boy' if I ever saw him. She seemed... impressed, Takeru.

Kazama smiled, his fingers hovering over the screen.

Kazama: Class 1-B won't know what hit them, Daichi. You're the brain of this trio. We'll show them there's no difference between the classes at the Sports Festival. Monday is the start of everything.
