I didn't realize how tightly I had been holding my breath until Sophia returned to the conference room and told us the partnership was continuing.
Even now, as I sat inside the meeting room listening to John and the other executives speak, part of me still felt as if I were trying to catch up with everything that had happened today.
This morning, I had walked into this building excited.
A few hours later, my face had been plastered across headlines.
Then came the whispers.
The stares.
The uncertainty.
And now somehow, after all that, I was sitting here discussing campaign schedules as though my life hadn't nearly turned upside down.
Maybe this was how the industry worked.
Everything moved too quickly for anyone to stop.
John placed a folder in front of me.
I lowered my eyes and opened it.
The moment I saw the contents, my stomach tightened.
