In the living room, Qin Jiao, who was playing with the children, understood the situation after hearing what Qin Shi said. "Xiao Shi," she said, "can you play with the kids for me for a little while?"
"Sure."
Qin Jiao had only taken a few steps when the doorbell rang. Since she was close to the door, she went to open it, only to find a travel-worn Shen Yi standing there.
He even had a wronged look on his face.
For a man about to turn thirty to have such an aggrieved expression... Qin Jiao didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"I thought your flight was tomorrow?"
"I missed you and the kids too much, so I changed my flight as soon as I finished my work. But I never expected to come home to an empty house..."
Qin Jiao pulled him inside, closing the door as she explained, "My uncle and aunt are here and invited us all over for a get-together. Why don't you go wash up? You're so scruffy."
