Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: No Tenderness for the Fairer Sex

After wandering alone for a long time, Chu Jing realized her surroundings all looked remarkably similar.

Trees that looked just alike were everywhere, making it impossible to get her bearings.

Even the memories left by the body's previous owner were no help. After all, the original owner had always lived in a fixed settlement and never had the chance to learn much about the outside world.

And just a short while ago, due to a conflict with the story's heroine, she had been exiled from her once-safe home.

Just as Chu Jing was on the verge of despair, the air around her suddenly became unusually hot and stifling.

Sweat began to trickle down her forehead.

She casually wiped the sweat from her face and looked up at the sky.

Only to see two suns hanging high above.

Chu Jing: "..."

'Now I finally get why it's so hot.'

'There are two "fireballs" hanging over my head!'

Having never seen such a sight, Chu Jing felt her mouth go dry and her heart race. She couldn't walk more than a few steps without having to stop, catch her breath, and look for a shady place to hide for a moment.

But every time she fanned herself with her arm, she was only met with a blast of scorching heat.

Finally, Chu Jing gave up on finding Rong Kai and focused her energy on figuring out how to get out of this place.

"If only I still had my superpower..."

she murmured to herself.

Suddenly, a long-lost sensation surged from within her.

Chu Jing froze. She looked down and was silent for a long moment before sighing. "You scared me to death. I thought my period had come early..."

She stopped mid-sentence, a look of surprise crossing her face.

"Wait, that's not it!"

Realizing what was happening, Chu Jing quickly held out her hands and observed them carefully.

After a moment, a green light gradually appeared in her palms.

In that instant, a flash of delighted surprise lit up Chu Jing's eyes.

'My Wood Element Ability is back!'

The ground suddenly began to tremble violently, followed by a deafening roar.

It sounded as if some enormous creature was approaching.

In the Apocalypse, Chu Jing had been a small-time slacker. Her life's motto was to admire handsome beast men from afar but never dare to touch them.

To put it elegantly, she was like a butterfly flitting through a field of flowers without touching a single petal.

To put it bluntly, she was a coward. She'd never been through any major crises, so she was scared.

She understood deep down that in this world, protecting herself was all that mattered.

But she never expected to be abandoned by her teammates just because she only had one superpower.

In reality, she also had a Farming Superpower that allowed her to grow anything.

Her crops were about to ripen, and she had planned to share the good news with them so they would no longer have to worry about food.

Yet reality was always cruel. Before she could even say a word, she was pushed out to become food for those horrifying zombies.

At this thought, Chu Jing quickly felt behind her right ear. A smile spread across her face when she found a small bump there.

'So my Space Power came with me too.'

This meant she still had a fighting chance.

THUD THUD THUD—

But in the blink of an eye, a massive figure appeared before Chu Jing.

The monster was absurdly tall and frighteningly wide, and it reeked of an unbearable stench.

The smell was like a mixture of a rotting garbage heap and dead bodies, making one want to vomit but unable to escape.

The behemoth looked down, its round green eyes locked on Chu Jing.

It then opened its cavernous mouth and charged straight for her.

Saliva and filth dripped continuously from the corners of its mouth, forming a disgusting trail of droplets.

A thick, putrid stench washed over her, and Chu Jing nearly passed out from the smell.

She covered her nose, trying to hold her breath.

But the nauseating odor filled the air.

"It stinks so bad! Has it not brushed its teeth in a hundred years?"

she couldn't help but curse.

With no time to think, just as Chu Jing was about to use her superpower to dodge, something wrapped tightly around her waist.

Her entire body was lifted into the air.

The sensation nearly made her heart stop.

Chu Jing couldn't help but scream, "Oh my god, I'm flying?!"

The next second, like a kite with a broken string, she was violently flung against a tree trunk, collapsing helplessly among the branches.

The pain from the impact nearly made her faint, and sharp pains shot through her body.

But she knew she couldn't give up now.

"Cough, cough..."

She clutched her chest, feeling as if her heart was about to leap out of her rib cage.

Her back felt numb and throbbed with a dull ache from the earlier impact.

'I don't even have to guess. It must be Rong Kai getting his revenge on me again!'

'He always loves to mess with me like this. He's so detestable!'

Sure enough, when she opened her eyes, she saw the figure standing before her.

The chilly aura emanating from him made Chu Jing shiver involuntarily.

Chu Jing secretly rolled her eyes, thinking this man was going too far, but her face was all smiles.

"Um, could you be a little gentler next time? You know my body is weak. I can't handle such vigorous exercise."

But Rong Kai completely ignored her, his gaze fixed on the monster below.

At that moment, the monster lunged, getting nothing but a mouthful of dirt. It was instantly enraged.

Its massive body thrashed about, letting out a series of low roars.

It let out a roar toward the sky.

The sound was unbearable to Chu Jing.

She quickly covered her ears, still complaining.

"Why does that sound so awful? Just how much dirt did you eat to make you roar like that?"

'It just failed to catch me,'

'Is that any reason to scream and shout like this?'

'Huh!'

'Something's not right!'

'How can I understand what this thing is saying?!'

This strange realization sent a chill down Chu Jing's spine.

She felt as if she had been drawn into an incomprehensible world.

Before Chu Jing could react, Rong Kai had already leaped down from the tree branch with her in tow.

This was followed by a tremor in the earth and the thunderous crash of a falling tree.

Looking back, she saw that the monster had snapped the tree trunk in two!

The immense force caused the entire tree to topple instantly, sending splintered wood flying everywhere.

Having been roughly slammed into a tree again, Chu Jing was truly furious this time.

She struggled to her feet and furiously confronted Rong Kai.

"Hey! Can't you be a little more gentle? I'm a female beast, you know!"

Who would have thought, Rong Kai merely shot her a cool glance.

He didn't say a word, but Chu Jing felt as if she could hear him thinking, 'A female beast? You? Forget it.'

Chu Jing was left speechless.

She felt like her very character had been insulted.

Seeing its food escape, the monster immediately charged toward the tree where Chu Jing and Rong Kai were.

The monster looked exceptionally ferocious.

Chu Jing's heart instantly began to pound.

"Hey, you're not just going to stand there and watch me die, are you?"

Chu Jing asked anxiously.

At this moment, aside from her own strength, the only one she could rely on was Rong Kai.

Chu Jing wasn't sure if this body could handle a burst of her superpower. What if she pushed too hard and ended up knocking herself unconscious?

The original owner's Beast Husbands probably wouldn't let her off so easily.

"Tsk."

Hearing Chu Jing's question, Rong Kai's face filled with impatience.

Even though the situation was extremely critical, Rong Kai just stood there.
