She had been waiting patiently in line for a long time, and it was almost her turn. Suddenly, a monk appeared from out of nowhere, walked up to Xu Su, pressed his palms together, bowed slightly, and made an inviting gesture.
Baffled, Xu Su was led into a side courtyard within the temple hall. This was likely an area not open to worshippers. Inside, an even older monk in a red robe stood with his hands by his sides, looking at her.
Xu Su's heart tightened slightly. She felt as if that one gaze could see right through her.
But upon a closer look, she realized the monk seemed to be looking at... the Buddha Beads hanging around her neck, the one Zhou Mochen had put on for her.
"Greetings, Master," Xu Su said with a bow, asking in confusion, "Is there something wrong with this string of Buddha Beads?"
