Claire Sinclair was thoroughly puzzled. He always seemed so busy, especially whenever she brought up divorce. That's when he would enter The Inferno mode, becoming impossibly swamped with work.
And now?
Ha. So he had the free time to buy groceries and cook for her, but no time to grant her a divorce.
She was finally starting to understand. She had been caught in his playbook all along, and it was impossible to guard against.
She decided she would go on a hunger strike when he got back.
Before long, Adrian Quincy returned.
He hadn't bought much: two eels, a bag of red dates, and various seasonings.
When Claire saw them, she asked curiously, "What did you buy eels for?"
"To make you red date and eel congee. It's good for your blood and energy."
"You actually know about wellness, too!"
'Is there anything in this world he doesn't know???'
"It's just common knowledge. You'd understand if you read more."
"That's a roundabout way of saying I don't read!"
