She was so lost in thought that she didn't even notice Adrian Quincy had returned.
"Claire, the doctor said Grandpa's life isn't in danger for now. You don't have to worry."
Claire Sinclair couldn't help but ask, "Grandpa was doing just fine. How could his condition suddenly get so much worse?"
"He probably heard we were getting a divorce. The shock and anger were likely too much for him, causing his health to decline."
"Who has such a big mouth, telling Grandpa White-beard something like that..." Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath.
Adrian Quincy came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. He pressed his cheek against hers and said in a low voice, "Claire, for Grandpa's sake... let's not get a divorce, okay?"
"I..." 'Don't give in, don't give in!'
"If you're so set on a divorce, then you can tell Grandpa right here and now that we're not right for each other. Otherwise, he'll blame me for not treating you well and making you run away."
