When the two children got out of school that evening, Miles Xavier, surprisingly, wasn't there to pick them up.
The two children still shot Joan Shaw dirty looks, but she paid them no mind.
The car ride was quiet. Both children were engrossed in cartoons on their kid-friendly tablets.
Although she desperately wanted to lecture the children, to tell them not to watch phones or tablets in a moving vehicle, she knew that saying so now would only make them dislike her more.
So she held her tongue and glanced at Caleb Adler. "Why didn't Miles come? Was he held up at the office?"
"President Xavier is likely busy with matters related to the Second Young Master's birthday banquet."
"Second Young Master?" This was the second time she had heard his name today, and she was a little curious. "Second Young Master? How come I've never heard of him? When is his birthday?"
