Jenson Shelby was completely confused by what he was hearing, but Ashley Bowen's sobs broke his heart.
He hurriedly reassured her, "Okay, wait for me. I'm on my way to you now. I have this number. Don't go anywhere, just wait for me right there."
"Mhm." Ashley Bowen hung up the phone.
She tried to press one hundred US Dollars on the proprietress, but the woman shook her head.
The only other table of guests finished their meal and left. One of them posted a photo they had taken to Twitter with the caption: "A Serranian woman who can't find her way home."
Just as the proprietress was about to leave Ashley to clear the table, Ashley stopped her. Gesturing, she asked, "Could you let me work here? I have no place to sleep..."
Luckily, she could speak some broken English, but the proprietress's English wasn't very good either, making communication extremely difficult. After struggling for quite some time, they finally managed to understand each other.
