At nine o'clock in the evening, a car pulled up to an apartment building.
The driver opened the car door for Sylvia Young. She pulled her shawl tighter, got out, and took out her phone to make a call. "I'm downstairs from your apartment right now. It's up to you if you want to come down. Also, I should mention I don't have any money on me, so I can't get back home…"
After hanging up, she turned to the driver. "You can head back now."
The driver hesitated, unwilling to leave.
"This is Battalion Commander Young's home. He'll take me back later. What, do you want to defy my orders, too? Are you tired of your job?" Sylvia Young frowned, displeased.
Left with no choice, the driver bowed. "In that case, Miss Young, please call me anytime if you need anything."
Sylvia Young waved dismissively, ignored him, and turned to walk toward the building's entrance.
She hugged her shoulders, each step faint and unsteady, as if a gust of wind could knock her over at any moment.
