"Thank you, sister-in-law." Claire's tone was warm, a complete departure from how she'd treated Vivian Lee moments before.
Vivian Lee pursed her lips. Her first impression of the couple was not a good one.
As Ashley Bowen handed the chopsticks to Adam Sinclair, he suddenly grabbed her hand, holding it tight and refusing to let go.
Ashley's ears instantly flushed red. She tried to pull away, but he only gripped her tighter.
"Ahem, Adam, here. You like egg tarts, don't you? Have one." Seeing this, Claire quickly wedged her chopsticks between them, forcing them to separate.
The atmosphere at the table grew awkward. After Claire and Adam arrived, both Vivian Lee and Ashley Bowen fell silent.
Adam Sinclair was even more withdrawn, eating with his head down, his eyes fixed on a large red mark on Ashley Bowen's neck.
Finally, he lost his appetite. He slammed his chopsticks on the table, stood up, walked over to Ashley, and pulled her to her feet.
