They called the first one an angel.
Its wings were the last thing four city blocks ever saw.
Turns out, angels don't bring peace. They bring quiet—the kind you get when a bus full of people are left with their eyes bleached white and their hearts still beating in their chests.
When something kills a hundred people in one night, everyone scrambles for a reason. Terrorism, chemical leaks, God's punishment—whatever helps them sleep. But no excuse explains why every victim looks like their soul got siphoned out through a straw.
Three months later, someone gave them a name that stuck.
EIDOLONS.
No one knows where they came from. Maybe they've always been here, hiding in the static between streetlights. Maybe they're what's left when a soul rots so bad even Hell spits it back out.
Either way, they look human.
Until they don't.
They don't kill you. They unmake you.
They drain whatever keeps you alive—your life, your spirit, your spark—and leave you looking like a wax museum reject.
So when one shows up, you don't run for your life. You run with what's left of it.
They're faster, stronger, and some are smarter than us. The higher the Rank, the less they look like anything that ever belonged on Earth.
· E-Rank: Animals. All hunger, no thought.
· D through B: They hunt in packs. Set traps. Think ahead.
· A-Rank: They learn to smile. Blend in. Fake being human until it's time to eat.
· S-Rank: Natural disasters with a face.
· SS-Rank: Bedtime stories soldiers tell before missions they know they won't come back from.
But sometimes, you don't die.
Sometimes, you change.
That's how you get MALFORMS.
Malforms are the mistake that didn't finish dying.
They're what's left when an Eidolon gets interrupted mid-snack and the victim survives—half-human, half-monster.
They keep most of their mind, but their body… it remembers the hunger.
The stronger the Eidolon that bit you, the stronger you become. From E up to A, you get faster. Tougher. You heal quicker.
But there's a catch—your new body wants to finish what the Eidolon started.
So you take suppressants. Little pills that cost more than rent and taste like chalk and regret.
Most Malforms hide in plain sight until the itch under their skin gets too loud.
When it does, they snap. They drain someone dry, and the government adds another line to the casualty report.
When that started happening too often, the higher-ups needed a new plan.
So they built a pretty little lie and called it:
THE HALO DIVISION.
A "special task force" made of Malforms trained to hunt Eidolons.
Sometimes they hunt their own kind, too.
The government calls them assets. Civilians call them monsters.
Every city has a branch. Every branch loses people weekly.
They call it attrition on the reports. "Suicide mission" doesn't look as professional.
Meanwhile, the world keeps pretending everything's fine. People go to work. Watch the news. Hope they never see one up close.
Because if they do—
There's no hero coming to save them.
Just the monsters who learned to live with what they are.
Or the ones who never should have lived at all.

EIDOLON POWERS BY RANK
E-Rank:
· Basic physical enhancement (speed/strength).
· Claw/fang manifest.
· Minimal intelligence; driven by instinct.
D-Rank:
· Elemental touch (e.g., burn on contact, freeze skin).
· Camouflage/shadow blend.
· Pack tactics, simple ambushes.
C-Rank:
· Short-range energy projection (e.g., force shoves, sonic screams).
· Minor illusion/hallucination induction.
· Can mimic human speech (taunting, lying).
B-Rank:
· Weapon manifestation (bone blades, acidic whips, barbed tendrils).
· Area denial abilities (toxic mist, spreading corruption).
· Tactical intelligence; sets traps, exploits fear.
A-Rank:
· Floating weapon arrays (but made of solidified malice/energy).
· Domains/territory control (barriers that weaken humans, empower Eidolons).
· Full emotional mimicry; can pass as human for years.
· Memory consumption/identity theft.
S-Rank:
· Titan Class Physiology (partial or full transformation into a building-sized horror).
· Reality-warping within a radius (gravity shift, spatial tearing).
· Cursed techniques with complex conditions/rules.
· Intelligent, philosophical, often sees humans as insects.
SS-Rank:
· Conceptual corruption (not just draining life, but "unmaking" concepts like hope, courage, memory).
· Personal domain—a pocket reality they drag victims into.
· Can create/manipulate lesser Eidolons.
· Voice/whisper-based attacks that bypass physical defenses.
· True immortality unless destroyed on both physical and metaphysical planes.

MILITARY / HALO DIVISION CAPABILITIES
· Resonance-tech weapons: Bullets/swords/gauntlets that vibrate at frequencies harmful to Eidolons.
· Barrier projectors: Portable devices that create weak "holy" zones to suppress Eidolon abilities temporarily.
· Aether-severing blades: Monomolecular edges that cut through "unreal" matter (Eidolon flesh/manifestations).
· Power armor/exosuits for human soldiers—enhanced strength, perception filters to resist mental attacks.
· Drone swarms equipped with suppressant injectors/scanners.
Malforms in Halo Division often have customized gear that enhances their innate corruption-based abilities (e.g., a Malform with claw manifests gets resonance-claw implants).
