The car waited at the hotel entrance for more than ten minutes, but Eleanor Bishop never came out.
Archie Lockwood's lips twisted into a self-mocking smile. He glanced at Rory, who was sitting beside him playing a game, and said in a low voice, "Let's go."
'It doesn't matter what happens to me; I don't care.'
'I didn't have much hope to begin with.'
'But for her to not even come see her own daughter…'
Eleanor Bishop sat on the sofa, clutching her phone and watching the time tick slowly by. She hadn't moved an inch between three o'clock and three-thirty.
As the time crept closer to four o'clock, an ache grew in her heart.
'I know that if I leave now, I'll never have a chance to see Rory again.'
'If only I could just hide in a corner and secretly take one picture as a keepsake!'
Clutching her phone, she shot to her feet. She broke into a limping run, heading out the door and down toward the lobby.
It was almost 3:50. 'Only ten minutes left, just ten minutes…'
