"Su Nuo..." The man's voice softened. "I will give you the best of everything."
"I can earn it with my own two hands." Su Nuo glanced at her ten slender, jade-like fingers and shook her head gently. She looked up at him. "I don't want a flashy, insubstantial marriage like this."
"I got carried away before. I even forgot that I'm only eighteen, an age when I should be enjoying the prime of my youth."
"Flashy and insubstantial?"
"Yes. We rushed into this marriage, and our entire relationship is held together by two little booklets. No flowers, no wedding. This isn't what I want."
"You care about things like that?" The man stared at her intently, his thin lips slightly parted.
Su Nuo shrugged and smiled. "Why wouldn't I care? I'm not the type to chase after some platonic love. You think too highly of me."
The man was silent for a long time. After a while, he finally said, "I can give you all of that, but a divorce is out of the question."
