With the shop closed for the Mid-Autumn Festival, Lin Lan enjoyed a rare chance to sleep in, waking up naturally.
She put on a light-purple, fine-cotton dress and pulled open the curtains to see Li Xiangyang in the yard, watering the flowering trees with a watering can. Little Douzi was there too, rolling an iron hoop.
Sensing her gaze from upstairs, they both turned to look. Li Xiangyang smiled. "It's nine o'clock. Aren't you hungry yet?"
With his hands on his hips, Little Douzi looked up at Lin Lan. "Mom, hurry down for breakfast!"
"I'll be right down!" Lin Lan turned back, pulled the curtains fully open, folded her summer quilt, and went downstairs after washing up.
Old Li came in carrying a head of cabbage and a vegetable basket. "The tomatoes are overripe and falling to the ground, and the cabbage has bolted. I'll cut out the flowering stalks and cook you some noodles with a savory topping."
Lin Lan said quickly, "Dad, just leave it there. I'll do it."
