Vera Xavier felt she had been perfectly clear with her hint, but Nathaniel Nathan's reaction was still beyond her expectations.
The moment her words faded, she felt her body grow light, and then realized he had swept her up into his arms.
She froze, stunned. He, however, said calmly, "If you're tired, just sleep in my arms."
Vera Xavier didn't know whether to laugh or cry. 'Is he even thinking straight? How could I possibly fall asleep in his arms like this?'
'Besides, isn't he tired?'
Nathaniel Nathan seemed to have guessed her thoughts and said coolly, "You're so light, not an ounce of meat on you. It's like holding a feather."
Vera Xavier: "..."
'She really wanted to correct him; even the biggest feather doesn't weigh an ounce.'
'Besides, she wasn't *that* skinny.'
Before she could speak, a faint hint of anger appeared on Nathaniel Nathan's face. "You've lost weight. That bastard, Sheldon Caldwell... I really should have skinned him alive earlier!"
