The tea suddenly seemed a little bitter.
Celia Sterling slowly set down her teacup, her gaze deepening. "This question... is it very important to Cece?"
"Very important," Celia affirmed with a nod.
Kian Sterling remained silent for a long moment before saying softly, "It wasn't my decision."
The last taut string of tension in Celia Sterling's heart finally loosened.
She gave a faint smile, her tone turning a touch distant and cool.
"As Celia Sterling, I had the complete love of the two most charming men in Metropia. Especially you, brother. You've doted on me for so many years, and I know full well just how thoroughly you've spoiled me. I can say without a shred of modesty that no young lady in all of Metropia has lived a life as comfortable as mine."
She then looked at Silas Norwood. "And I can also say with absolute certainty that in all of Metropia, no other woman has a husband as perfect as mine."
Both Kian Sterling's and Silas Norwood's hearts sank a little.
