Celia Sterling looked the Second Young Master Sutton up and down. He looked far more wretched than he had at the Port Sovereign Hotel a few months ago. His inherently cruel face was now seething with malice.
Her heart sank. 'I need to stall for time,' she thought. "I don't understand what you're saying," she said, feigning ignorance. "What do you mean, a leader has become... a beaten dog?"
Second Young Master Sutton sneered. "You don't know? I was doing just fine as the man in charge, but Chairman Norwood schemed me out of my position. Now I don't even have a roof over my head and I'm saddled with several business lawsuits. He's trying to ruin me completely."
