Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Honey

As the saying goes, when it comes to sweet, you have to bow to the queen.

So, Jiang Qin bought another song from the system store: "Honey."

Once again, it was just a guitar, strumming a rhythmic intro, followed by a consistently cheerful melody.

"honey honey honey

honey, you filled my heart with love

I shut my ears to hear you with my heart

Your love is like a pair of headphones, made just for me..."

Every "honey" she sang was sweet enough to melt anyone's heart.

The girl on the screen was slender and petite. Cradling a guitar, she played with a cheerful, sweet air, her foot tapping along to the beat.

Her long black hair, fluttering in the breeze, seemed to be dancing to the song.

"Dedicating a song to you, honey, full of sweet words

Sent across the air with tons of emojis

Updating each other on the latest secrets~~"

It wasn't just the males who were captivated; several females from the Duolun University music department were also watching the livestream.

At this moment, they were squealing from how sweet it was.

"Ahhh, such a sweet song! I really want to learn it!"

"I can't wait for Jiang Qin to upload the song! I'm going to buy the performance rights!"

Surprisingly, these two females swooning over the livestream were identical twins.

They even had pink hair, which looked incredibly cute.

There were two other girls in the dorm room with them. Hearing the commotion, one asked curiously, "Didn't you guys say you were just going to watch some drama online? How did you end up listening to music?"

Since the twins were wearing headphones, their roommates couldn't hear the livestream. They had no idea what drama was unfolding, much less the song being played.

Hearing the question, the younger sister, Hua Yue, took off her headphones, looking utterly thrilled.

"Haven't you been on the Star Network? That Lilia from room 303 accused a really popular new musician of plagiarism. They had a PK battle, and that obnoxious Lilia lost!"

As soon as the younger sister finished, the older sister, Hua Rong, jumped in to continue, "And then Lilia, being a sore loser, didn't honor the bet and just logged off! Right after that, the new artist started this livestream."

The other two girls understood. As aspiring musicians themselves, they knew the importance of online traffic.

This was the perfect time to go live and rally new fans.

'It's even possible the whole thing was a staged publicity stunt.'

"So what are you two so excited about?" a roommate asked, confused.

"Because Jiang Qin announced that she would compose a song on the spot, and she let us, the viewers, choose the genre!

Everyone ended up picking a sweet song, and you have no idea just how sweet Jiang Qin can be!

Ugh, I'm a goner. I'm totally smitten. I'm a female, and I've fallen for another female," Hua Yue said, covering her face shyly.

But everyone was used to her antics.

After all, she was the type to fall in love ten times a day while watching streams.

Her affections would just shift to the next attractive male or female she saw.

This was actually how the sisters' conflict with Lilia had started.

They were in dorm room 302, and next door was 303.

In room 303, only Lilia and Jiang Ruming were considered reasonably attractive. So, as someone who judges by appearances, Hua Yue had naturally wanted to befriend them at the start of the semester.

In the end, however, they discovered that some people really aren't as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.

Jiang Ruming was fine; she was just distant and a bit boring, that's all.

Lilia, however, was different. She always tried to make herself look good by putting the sisters down. Over time, the twins saw her true colors.

So, when they heard she was accusing someone of stealing her song, the twins' first reaction was disbelief.

After all this time, others might not know Lilia's actual skill level, but they certainly did!

'If she could actually write songs like 'As Wished,' 'Ningxia,' and 'Anonymous Comfort,' she wouldn't be sitting on them. She would have already launched a high-profile debut.'

'Everyone knew she'd been sucking up to the males in the composition department just to get a single song.'

'If she weren't a D-level female, unable to soothe that student with A-level Spiritual Power, he probably would have accepted her advances long ago.'

'After all, when a female makes the first move, it's usually a done deal.'

'Unfortunately for her, he looked down on her for her low spiritual power.'

Lilia knew it herself. A D-level female was only marginally better than a pure human female. In fact, most people didn't even consider her a proper Beastman female.

She could, at best, soothe a C-level male—and only once a week. Her abilities weren't even as effective as an Inhibitor.

That was why she'd always faked her personality, hoping to break into the entertainment industry, become a star, and raise her own value so she could latch onto a high-quality male.

After all, C-level males were the dregs of society in her eyes; she wouldn't give them the time of day.

The twins were well aware of Lilia's mindset, so their immediate thought was that she was trying to frame someone.

'Anyone Lilia was trying to take down had to be a good person!'

Thinking they couldn't just stand by and watch her tear someone down, the two of them had jumped into the livestream right away, planning to use their status as her classmates to expose her true colors.

They never expected the "victim" to be so formidable, winning everyone's trust on her own merits.

And, of course, she had successfully made the two sisters fall for her.

Now, their minds were filled with those sweet, sweet calls of "honey~."

They'd never imagined that a song mixing a minority language from the West Continent with the official language could have such a unique charm.

The primary language of the current Interstellar era was the former official language of Huaxia. The languages of the other nations and peoples from the home planet had all become minority languages.

After generations of change, many languages had already vanished from the current era.

After all, those who spoke with an accent were often discriminated against, so every planet had unified under the Interstellar standard language.

The new generation abandoned the dialects of old, and thus fewer and fewer people could speak them.

Only a few traditionalists still insisted on passing down their race's language.

After "Honey" concluded, Jiang Qin took a sip of water before speaking again:

"Next, I'll do a Countdown from three and then take a screenshot. I'll sing whatever genre is requested in the very last comment."

[Sing a song in one of the West Continent's minority languages! You can't even find a hundred songs like that in the entire Federation library.]

[No way, I want a love song! I can't understand any of that West Continent Language stuff!]

[I want to hear a minority language song, too. It doesn't have to be from the West Continent, one from another race would be cool.]

After leaving the home planet long ago, all the English-speaking nations and peoples were categorized as Western Continent people, while Huaxia alone was designated as the Central Continent People.

The official Huaxia language was adopted as the Federation's primary language partly because the Empire had also changed its official language to the Huaxia language many years prior.

Eventually, even the Myriad Races had no choice but to follow suit.

As for the so-called "cherry blossom" and "kimchi" nations, they were all relegated to minor ethnic groups, and their languages became extremely obscure.

The only people who could still speak them had either learned from their ancestors or were students in an ancient languages department.

The West Continent Language, on the other hand, was still used on a few smaller planets, and it was even offered as a language course in schools.

So, out of sheer curiosity, quite a few people wanted to hear it.

Of course, Jiang Qin understood. 'Someone's just trying to stir up trouble, using this to put me in a tough spot.'

'After all, I'm illiterate, right?'
