Hannah Hale handed the phone to Aiden Shaw and patted her chest, relieved after the scare. She had worked up a sweat from all that running.
Aiden Shaw took the phone, his gentle, affectionate voice flowing from his lips. "What's wrong, silly girl?"
"Why was your phone off? I thought..."
"Don't cry. Where are you? I'm coming to find you now."
Laura Lowell squatted on the ground, burying her face in her knees. "I'm in your hospital's underground parking garage."
"Stay right there. I'm on my way."
Aiden Shaw put down his pen, rose from his chair, and rushed out the door.
Still deeply worried about Laura, Hannah Hale followed him into the elevator.
Aiden Shaw shoved his hands into the pockets of his white lab coat, his deep gaze fixed on the descending floor numbers, his brow slightly furrowed.
