"Clever. You got it right," Clara Grant said, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
"Well then, my lady, as for the results of the test... are you satisfied?" Seth Quinn asked, playing along as he suppressed a smile.
"Hmm, I'm satisfied enough, I guess," Clara Grant said, lifting her chin and pouting her lips without realizing it.
Her unintentional gesture made Seth Quinn's heart clench, and he couldn't help but swallow hard.
He sighed and whispered, "Silly girl, you don't need to test me. Everything I said is true. In my heart, nothing is more important than you!"
'How could she not know? When they were in danger, he had thrown himself forward to save her without any regard for his own safety. Of course she was the most important thing to him.'
She had only said those things on the phone earlier because of a sudden, girlish whim.
She opened her mouth to say, "I kno—"
But she swallowed the last syllable as Seth Quinn's lips captured hers.
