Hearing her voice again, Seth Quinn relaxed and asked, "It's so late. You're not asleep yet?"
Clara Grant really wanted to say, 'If you know it's so late, why are you calling?!'
In the end, however, she just nodded. Then, realizing he couldn't see her, she let out a soft, faint "mhm."
Her response was so brief that Seth Quinn felt like the conversation had hit a wall.
Silence fell between them once more.
After a moment, the silence felt too awkward to Clara Grant, so she opened her mouth to ask, "You called so late. Is something wrong?"
Though her voice was calm and distant, Seth's heart filled with joy just hearing the voice he'd longed for day and night.
"Yeah." Overwhelmed with joy, his reply was clipped.
Clara frowned and asked again, "What is it?"
On the other end, Seth seemed to ponder how to answer for a moment, but ultimately gave a rather meaningless reply. "Something... important."
