After composing herself, Clara Grant emerged from the restroom. Just as she was about to return to their table, she glanced up and stopped in her tracks.
Sometime while she was gone, Faye Jennings had moved from her seat across the table to sit right next to Seth Quinn. She was turned toward him, her expression a mixture of worry and urgency.
Seth Quinn, however, wasn't looking at Faye Jennings, so Clara couldn't see his face or guess his expression.
Just seeing his ramrod-straight posture was enough for the unease Clara had just suppressed to surge back up.
'Didn't he say he couldn't stand having other women sit next to him? So who is that next to him now? A ghost?'
'He said all the right things when I was here, but the moment I left, he couldn't keep up the act!'
