Miles Quinn was on the other end of the line, calling Clara Grant from the hallway outside the president's office at Aegis Pictures. He had just heard her say, "Thank you, Miles," when the line went silent.
Instead, he faintly heard another woman's voice, which sounded incredibly stern, before the call was abruptly disconnected.
When he tried calling back, it went straight to a notification that the phone was off.
Miles Quinn frowned. 'That stern woman's voice... it sounded like Director Conway, the head of the performance department. Did she say Clara Grant was in the vice principal's office? And that she had something serious to discuss with her?'
'What could it be?'
After a moment of frowning in thought, Miles Quinn strode to the president's office, pushed the door open, and snatched the car keys from the coffee table, ready to leave.
