"Since those three men came prepared, wouldn't the other two have taken Cecilia even if one got hurt? And yet they let you go." Jim Quincy couldn't understand.
Titus Shaw was too concerned about Cecilia Adler's safety to ask for details. "Ian, I'm going to find those men now. Are you coming?"
Ian Quincy said, "I'm coming."
Titus Shaw got up and headed out.
Ian Quincy followed.
"How is Cecilia doing?" Titus Shaw asked, concerned.
"She was a little shaken, but she's in decent spirits. She..." After a moment's hesitation, Ian Quincy described in detail how Cecilia had used his name to intimidate the three men.
A ray of light finally broke through the gloom that filled Titus Shaw's heart. "Did Cecilia really say that?"
"Yes."
"If Cecilia ever called me 'Dad' to my face, I could die without regrets," said Titus Shaw.
Ian Quincy replied, "You're destined to live with that regret for the rest of your life."
Titus Shaw shot Ian Quincy a sharp glare.
