"What do you want?" Jessie sensed Victor following right behind her. She turned around, annoyed, and before Victor could say a word, she indignantly spat out her complaint, "Turncoat!"
Victor: "..."
'Great,' he thought. 'Another label to add to the collection, right after "stuffy."'
But seeing Jessie's childish anger, Victor wasn't annoyed in the slightest. In fact, he found this side of her rather endearing.
If it weren't for the pregnancy, the family naturally wouldn't stop Jessie from doing whatever she wanted.
At that thought, Victor suppressed the smile tugging at his lips. After all, he was partly to blame for the current situation. If he were to laugh now, he might never be able to placate Jessie.
'The wife is always right. And even more right than a wife is a pregnant wife.'
Victor took a step forward and easily took hold of Jessie's wrist.
"It's not entirely out of the question, you know," he said.
