The Celestial Vault above remained dim, devoid of light. Thick, dark clouds blotted out the sun, unleashing a torrential downpour. From time to time, bolts of lightning snaked across the cloud cover.
Near a stretch of low, rolling hills, a large group of cultivators in disparate attire had split into two factions, locked in a fight to the death. The light from various Talismans, Magical Artifacts, and Divine Techniques flared and faded in rapid succession.
BOOM!
A bowl-thick, blood-red bolt of lightning crashed down. The Cultivator bearing the brunt of the attack grimaced as the square Giant Shield in his hand erupted with layers of deep blue light. He gritted his teeth and raised it to meet the strike.
Amidst the deafening impact, a dense, spiderweb-like pattern of cracks spread across the Giant Shield's surface. Its glow dimmed, and it was clearly on the verge of shattering completely.
