Renee Jennings was ecstatic, but she feigned a pout. "What nonsense. I'm not nearly as beautiful as you make me sound. I'm just a normal person. It's only in your eyes that I'm some great beauty."
Nathaniel Lynch nodded enthusiastically. "When you're by my side, I don't even notice anyone else."
As the two were bantering, a childish voice suddenly piped up, "My daddy's a liar! He loves looking at pretty women!"
Renee Jennings's expression instantly soured. The other guests, however, laughed at the child's innocent frankness. Margaret Jennings chuckled and teased, "Is that true? Nathan, does your daddy look at pretty women on his phone all the time?"
The others didn't take it seriously, thinking it was just a cute little complaint from a child.
