Naomi Kenway collected herself and went downstairs. In the dining room, Ethan Shaw was reading a financial newspaper to Ian Shaw, who was wrinkling his little face, looking like he wanted to say something but was holding back.
They both waited for Naomi to join them for breakfast. All three preferred Chinese food, so the table was laid out with classic Chinese breakfast dishes.
When Ian saw Naomi, it was like his savior had arrived. He jumped down from his chair and threw himself into Naomi's arms. He tilted his little face up and asked, "Mommy, are you all rested?"
Naomi gave Ethan Shaw an odd glance, then ruffled Ian Shaw's hair. "Mommy is all rested now. I'm sorry for making you worry, Ian."
Just as Naomi sat down, she saw Ethan answer a call. He then stood up and put on his suit jacket. "Something came up at the office. You two go ahead and eat without me."
