"I'm fine," Naomi said.
Ruby Preston turned to a nearby assistant and said, "Take Naomi to the RV to rest for a while. The sun is brutal today."
Then she sighed, "I don't get this crazy weather. Yesterday was a downpour, and today it's scorching hot..."
Naomi rested in the RV for a while, but she still felt a little dizzy and her throat was killing her. She had a nagging feeling that something was wrong. 'This probably isn't low blood sugar.'
Her assistant, Lily, grew anxious. She took Naomi's temperature and discovered she had a fever. Putting the thermometer away, she said, "Nina, we should go to the hospital."
"That's not necessary. Just go to a nearby pharmacy and get me some medicine. The fever should break quickly once I take it."
Lily, who had been Naomi's assistant for a long time, widened her eyes. 'That doesn't sound like her at all.' Normally, Naomi would rush to the hospital over a simple scraped finger just to avoid a scar.
