There was a knock on the hospital room door. Ruby Preston opened it and was stunned by the sight. An elderly man in a suit and tie introduced himself as the butler, and behind him stood two imposing rows of bodyguards and maids. They announced they were taking Naomi Kenway home for treatment, and that a private helicopter was waiting outside.
Ruby Preston was dumbfounded, almost thinking she had stumbled onto a film set by mistake.
When she came to her senses, she tried to dissuade them. "Nicole's condition has improved a lot. I've already contacted a doctor friend of mine, and she'll be here soon. When you're sick, you need to be treated in a hospital. No fancy home remedies are going to work. We have to trust in science!"
Her voice took on a serious tone by the end. Ruby Preston had a friend who was extremely superstitious, refusing to go to a hospital when sick and instead burning incense and praying to Buddhas at home. It was utterly absurd.
